The Thermal Energy Systems Lab has established materials and instrumentation facilities for materials engineering, formulation of novel phase change materials and characterisation.

  • Materials Lab: These equipment are dedicated to PCM formulation, chemical functionalization and stable dispersion of nano-fillers.

  • Bulk materials thermal characterization: The equipment consists of a modified re-circulator chiller and specially designed containers to capture the phase change behaviours of materials through a NI data acquisition system.

  • Low temperature thermo-physical characterization: These equipment are equipped with liquid nitrogen cooling systems to enable cryogenic temperatures measurements of latent heat of fusions, heat capacities and thermal conductivities of materials.
