Fadhel studied instrumentation at the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Tunis (INSAT), graduating in 2003, and worked until 2010 at the Trans-Tunisian Pipeline Company (ENI Group), where he headed the unit in charge of operating procedures for gas compression stations and turbomachines. He completed a PhD in Energy and Process Engineering at PROMES-CNRS in Perpignan and CES Mines ParisTech in 2013, followed by a post-doc at CEA Grenoble from 2014 to 2016.
His research covers the thermodynamic optimisation of low- and medium-grade waste heat recovery and thermo-electric energy storage, and the testing and modelling of expanders, in particular scroll expanders and radial-inflow turbines. He joined ERI@N in 2017 to work on a zero-emission cryogenic energy system for green data centres.
